Description
JP Enterprises CTR-02 Competition Rifle 18″ – 223 Wylde
The Competition Tactical Rifle (CTR-02™) marked a significant milestone in the AR industry when it was first introduced two decades ago. Over the years, it has earned a place in the winner’s circles of numerous matches, thanks to being used by some of the world’s top shooters, including Daniel Horner and Robby Johnson. Known for its legendary reliability and accuracy, the CTR now features the new semi-monolithic CTI-23™ upper receiver option, enhancing its standing in the competitive action shooting sphere.
The current version of the CTR-02™ represents the evolution of the JP’s signature billet receiver set, tailored for the modern era of competition shooting. Crafted from 7075-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum and featuring the unique JP receiver styling, the CTR boasts a lightweight design. This design is particularly suited for action rifle builds, and its pronounced magazine well facilitates quick and easy reloads.
A notable addition to the CTR platform is the CTI-23™ upper receiver. This receiver incorporates the integrated handguard nut design found in the company’s latest generation of receivers. This innovation significantly reduces the likelihood of barrel flex at the receiver, ensuring supreme stability. Furthermore, the integral nut design requires the use of an undersized ID, mandating a Thermo-Fit™ barrel installation. This design principle effectively fuses the receiver and barrel into a singular, unyielding unit, maximizing the AR platform’s accuracy potential, especially at longer ranges.
