The Huglu Renova semi-auto shotgun utilizes a gas-less inertia operating system instead of a typical gas-operated model that is so common on gun racks today. Typically gas-operated systems function by redirecting gas directly from the barrel in order to cycle the action. The Renova functions in a totally different way using a spring that is housed in the bolt that stores energy during the recoil operation. Then the spring uses the stored energy just a moment later leading to the extraction and ejection of the spent shotshell hull.

Additionally, the inertia system doesn’t require as strict a maintenance schedule as gas guns. During Huglu’s testing of the Renova, they were able to run 5000 rounds without oil and cleaning. During that test, the gun performed flawlessly with zero broken parts and zero malfunctions. So during normal field use with cleaning and oiling, you can rest assured that your Renova will perform.

Moreover, this shotgun was tested with light recoiling 2-3/4″ target loads all the way up to heavy 3″ magnums and the performance was exceptional. The 1012 was able to cycle and run the vast majority of shotshells on the market with the exception of Winchester Featherlite (23/25 oz at 980 fps) on the light side and Remington HyperSonic (1 1/4 oz at 1700 fps) on the heavy side.
