The Buck Gardner Goose Call Canada Hammer Poly, Dark Mossy Oak Camo is a single reed polycarbonate goose call. The original short-reed Canada goose call is still the easiest operating goose call ever made. Each call has a shaved reed for fast pick-up and is hand-tuned to ensure performance that far exceeds the price. The Quick-Tune guts and reed system make cleaning, re-tuning, and re-assembly simple. The double O-ring insert forms an airtight seal with the barrel to enhance sound quality.
Polycarbonate is essentially bulletproof plastic, similar to Plexiglas. Its dense composition gives it excellent acoustic qualities with a softer sound than the Acrylic, it is highly durable so very unlikely to crack when dropped, and it is affordable for both manufacturers and hunters.
Single reed calls offer a broader range of volume and tone, but they typically require better air control and correct tongue pressure on the part of the caller. Simply put, a single reed call is more versatile but requires solid mechanics. Single reed calls can normally get louder than double reed calls can.

Duck hunters benefit from using both single and double reed calls. Different hen mallards have different tones, so being able to vary the sound of your calling will play to your advantage especially on pressured ducks.
