UTAS 516 URGI STRAIGHT PULL 14.5″ – 223 Rem/5.56 NATO
The UTAS 516 URGI brings the iconic look and feel of the U.S. military’s Upper Receiver Group – Improved (URGI) into a New Zealand-legal straight-pull platform.
The URGI was developed by U.S. Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) as a program to improve the durability and reliability of the SOPMOD Block II carbines. First fielded in 2018, it introduced a number of upgrades that have since become iconic.
Although initially an Army program, the URGI quickly spread across SOCOM units, cementing its place as the go-to evolution of the M4A1.
